Mathematical Bridge, Wightwick Manor and Gardens

Originally built around 1900 and inspired by the renowned Mathematical Bridge at Queens’ College, Cambridge, this historic structure has been a cherished feature of the estate for over a century.

Project Summary

Messenger is proud to have carried out the restoration of the iconic Mathematical Bridge at Wightwick Manor and Gardens. Closed since 2019 due to deterioration, the bridge underwent extensive conservation from October 2024 to January 2025.

Our expert team carefully assessed and repaired its timber framework, replacing the deteriorated walkway while preserving its original character. Now fully restored, the bridge finally reopened to visitors on 22 January 2025, once again connecting the gardens and woodland with its distinctive geometric design.

This vital conservation work was made possible through a generous legacy and the dedication of the National Trust. We are delighted to have played a role in ensuring the bridge remains a highlight of Wightwick Manor and Gardens for generations to come.
