Western Suite Stowe House

Stowe House is on the English Heritage list of Buildings at Risk and has been named by the World Monuments Fund as one of the 100 most endangered sites of world significance now being maintained by the Stowe House Preservation Trust.

Messenger was awarded the contract to remove and replace the existing oak timber floor, including structural repairs to the flooring structure and fire proofing within the floor voids. The contract works also included conservation cleaning and decoration of the ceiling and cornice, including re-gilding and new lighting to the cornice with new electrical infrastructure and distribution boards. New carved sections of timberwork to dado and floor panels were fitted, with full redecoration of the walls and woodwork and timber repairs to the joinery.
