All – meet Fred Markland, our new Heritage and Conservation Senior Building Surveyor here at Messenger! Fred joins us from the National Trust where he has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience over the last seven years. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, like many, the National Trust announced last week that “following the biggest redundancy consultation in the National Trust’s 125-year history” they had been forced to make hundreds of compulsory (and accepted even more voluntary) redundancies. But, one man’s loss is another man’s gain and we couldn’t be more excited to have Fred join the team.
Fred is well known within the sector having worked both in contracting and consulting over his varied career; in fact, many of his new colleagues here he has worked with in the past on projects such as Stowe Gardens. Amongst his wealth of knowledge and experience, he brings his accredited historic building professional status with the RICS which is somewhat of a rarity and a very useful attribute for the work he’s going to be carrying out in his new role.
Outside of work, Fred is a family man who can be found running his daughter back and forth to football and often ropes her in to helping him out on his mini projects at home!
