Temporary roof
A recent article in the Yorkshire Post details progress on the impressive scaffold structure and temporary roof now complete and protecting the Minster from the elements, whilst works to the Lesser South Transept take place. Click here to read the article in full and enjoy a short video.
Caring for the fabric of this building is a big responsibility and so we are delighted to see the completion of this enormous scaffold. The restoration work to the Lesser South Transept can now commence, which will secure the heritage for years to come.

Scaffold facts:
- 18,000 fittings weighing over 22 tonnes
- A total scaffold weight approaching 155 tonnes
- Nearly 5 miles of scaffold board if laid end to end
- 63,000 feet of scaffold tubing
- Over 3,000 man hours to erect
